For 12 years the same characters have entertained the American public on the hit TV crime drama “Law and Order Special Victims Unit.” The storylines for this great show focus on the elite detectives of Manhattan as they try to help rape victims, children and abuse victims too.
But what happens when the new season brings in a new cast, old allies and so much more? After the events at the end of season 12, Detective Stabler (Chris Meloni) has left the NYPD. His distraught partner, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), is doing all she can to cope with his departure while helping her new colleagues.
Meanwhile, at the district attorney’s office, former attorneys Casey Novak (Diane Neal) and Alexandra Cabot (Stephanie March) have come back with Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) from the original “Law and Order.” supervising them both. How will these old and new characters and cast balance each other out? Will the show ever be the same without Meloni? Be sure to watch the rest of this season to find out.
I love this season for its uniqueness. There are so many angles to explore such as the effect of having two DA’s working with the squad, not just one, the fact that there are new police officers in the squad who work a lot differently than what the squad is used to, the transition of the character Michael Cutter from the original “Law and Order” to “Special Victims Unit” The first half of the season was great. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this season will bring.
