I have several comments to make about this movie it was long but informative. There are two things I want to touch on mainly, the issue in Korea of compulsive gaming and how it’s educators are handling the use of PC in the classroom. I already knew that our country (I was born there) had an issue even when I was seven years old, I was exposed to PC Bong as they call it, and I can imagine how someone could get addicted. I have heard of instances of death from that place by my uncle several years ago, he had come from Korea after I had and would tell me about fights that broke out after some virtual games and guys and girls picking fights and eventually killing each other over it. I really don’t see that it’s necessary to do that I’m all for reprieve from real life but seriously, as far as the addiction of Korean teens, yes I know about that too, I have lots of friends still in Korea and half of them don’t do well in school cause they are on their phones and podcasts and gaming more than they want to study, it’s generally a not good thing and the fact that it’s coming from the country I have called home for nine years of my life is embarrassing. On the bright side however, I think it’s good that teachers are trying to implement proper computer use in Korea and at least they’re starting to do that now, the internet was still new when I was around and there wasn’t a class like that back then for me. It’s good to see that the country has evolved and improved to some degree.
The second thing I want to talk about is the online gaming and forum experiences. I agree with what it’s doing to the people it’s forming good and bad habits. There are both good and bad to this. The good side is the fact is fantasy binds people and brings them together more than reality ever could and I think it was a man that said that, they create lasting friendships. I actually can attest to this, I have met many people in my time online from when I really started getting on line to be social around 13 to now. I have met and befriended many people and I have stayed close with all of them and I’m still meeting and working with new people. It gives me a chance to meet more people and it gives me a better experience I think because I never had too much friends to begin with. But the downside to this is again, when these functions are abused and all that’s when there is a problem and I’m going to g o back to the idea of cyber crimes, it does not happen so much with the adults not that I know of but the kids who are involved online are most susceptible to more bullying than that’s already there I say it’s all about education, discretion and moderation.
